When we hear the word Smoothie, the first thing that comes to our mind is healthy. And it's true; it has health benefits, but to get the right taste, it depends on what ingredients we use while making it. I am only into healthy eating when I follow a strict routine of diet & exercise. Else I choose to have my regular homemade meal and continue with my workout. It's essential to detox our body once in a while, which helps us to remove toxins and to get aid internally.
The best practice to detox our body is once in a month, one can follow a strict routine for a week, with less intake of food & include a minimum of thirty minutes workout. During the detox process, always remember to consume a lot of water & include citric fruits to your diet. That way, your body will get time to heal internally. For the remaining three weeks, continue with your regular meal and exercise. I am not an acknowledged dietician or a fitness freak, but from the last six years, I often follow the intermittent cleansing process, and it has shown results for my body & skin. And Smoothie will be the best thing to have during the detox process.
In the current lockdown situation, we can't hit the gym or go out for physical activities. And to maintain the sanity of the house, I don't particularly appreciate sweating at home which has carpet flooring all over. People like me, who don't like to exercise at home, can cut down their food consumption to be healthful. When we continuously stay at home like these days with less physical activities, we need to find the right balance between food & lifestyle. Overeating without any physical activities can call for other unwanted diseases. And on a lighter note, one can avoid cooking twice a day and get relief from doing the dishes.
The best we can do at these times is having one full meal a day and skip others. I have started doing this for three weeks (weekends are an exception) and have begun to feel the difference. Intermittent fasting has a lot of health benefits like maintaining your body weight, detoxing, treating your anxiety & reducing the risk of other diseases. Food habits & choices depend entirely on individual and their body type, so one should understand their body and find the right balance to see what is working well for them.
To follow one meal a day routine, you need to have fixed timing for having a meal and should maintain the same schedule every day. And to make yourself feel full throughout the day, have a bowl of Smoothie, a few hours (six to seven) before or after your meal. For example, if you're having lunch and skipping dinner, have Smoothie for your super. Similarly, if you prefer having your meal in the evening, have your Smoothie around brunch time.
So here is my version of Smoothie recipe, I like to add roasted Oats to my Smoothie, as it has health benefits and the fibre. Those who prefer the tangy taste can use yogurt instead of milk. Blend below ingredients and add nuts, fruits for topping. Try adding a lot of fruits & nuts to your Smoothie that will keep you full for a long time.
Roasted Oats - 1 tbsp.
Yogurt- 2 tbsp.
Banana/Frozen Banana – 1
Honey - 1 tsp.
Protein powder - 1 scoop (optional)
Fruits and nuts of your choice
