The year 2020 will be the unfortunate year for the world. We saw in movies, documentary & videos about different viruses and how it impacted the lives, but to live with it, is something no one had ever imagined. At the beginning of this year, I started hearing about Corona Virus news. As usual, I used to scroll the story, thinking this is not going to impact us or we will get away with it, but within few days it became the world epidemic, and everyone started discussing it. From WhatsApp forwards to news channels, started seeing and hearing the same name Corona Virus. And the worst was reacting to fake news.
By March-end, most of the countries were affected, and it was declared as an epidemic, and such a disaster never happened in 100 years. In the world of science & technology, our lives were smooth, but no one could have ever imagined, it will come to a pause because of some Invisible Virus. The world was waking up every day to new obstacles, and leaders were giving their best to make their country survive the virus. And looking at these things I started realizing the worth of life and how privileged I am.
First few days, adapting to the situation got me anxiety; looking at the numbers of active & death cases were scary. I thought everything would vanish in a few days and we will get back to normalcy, but now I feel this is the new normalcy. Looking at the workers at forefront risking their lives for us was heart whelming, migrant workers walking miles with their families was sad. We need to be more thankful with each passing day and show gratitude to what we have. Imagining about the pain, the families go through who lost their dear ones, makes me more grateful towards life.
In this current situation, the best we can do is to stop thinking about the future and start living in the present. Everything is going to change, say it like the education system, office work culture, economy, tourism, business, transportation etc. We are thinking twice before stepping out of our house. Still, the question is if we stay in, will we survive? And for how many days we need to continue doing so? Is the virus inescapable? Everything remains unanswered, as no one has ever seen anything like this. Our lives were dependant on science & technology and believed nothing would ever happen, as they are far ahead to protect us and meet our requirements. And the reality is we are back to basics.
